A Screening Mammogram is an exam that is clinically used for the screening of breast cancer or breast abnormalities.
A Diagnostic Mammogram is done as a secondary exam to further evaluate any suspicions a Physician may have with the results of a Screening Mammogram.
With convenience in mind, any location that is capable of performing a Screening Mammogram is also capable of performing a Diagnostic Mammogram. Exam duration varies by the patient; generally, each exam takes no longer than 15-30 minutes.
At UMIH, 3D Mammography is available at three locations: Downey, Garden Grove & Fountain Valley. All Mammography equipment is with Hologic systems and offers Computer Aid-Detection (CAD) for enhanced interpretation.
