Same-day and walk-in appointments are available at most locations (unless the study requires prior authorization or extensive prep). Referring physicians typically receive our specialty diagnostic reports within 24–48 hours of the exam.

About Lymph Node Biopsy

When an ultrasound, CT, or PET/CT identifies a lymph node that requires tissue diagnosis, UMIH performs image-guided fine-needle aspiration or core biopsy with local anesthesia. The exam provides the pathology needed for cancer staging, lymphoma workup, or infectious evaluation without an open surgical procedure.

When lymph-node biopsy is used

  • Suspicious lymph node on imaging
  • Lymphoma diagnosis and subtyping
  • Cancer staging (breast, head-and-neck, melanoma, and others)
  • Evaluation of persistent lymphadenopathy

Preparation: Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and blood thinners as directed. No fasting required for most patients.

Typical duration: The biopsy takes 30–45 minutes.
