At United Medical Imaging Healthcare (UMIH), we put our patients at the center of everything we do. Every UMIH center is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and staffed by fellowship-trained radiologists covering musculoskeletal (MSK), breast, and neuroradiology subspecialties.

Fast, patient-first scheduling

Same-day and walk-in appointments are available at most locations (unless the study requires prior authorization or extensive prep). Referring physicians typically receive our specialty diagnostic reports within 24–48 hours of the exam.

About Ultrasound

Ultrasound is safe, painless, and radiation-free, which makes it a first-line test for pregnancy, gallbladder, thyroid, kidney, and vascular imaging, and a useful complement to mammography for evaluating breast findings. UMIH’s registered sonographers perform diagnostic ultrasound, breast ultrasound, and vascular Doppler studies, with images interpreted by our subspecialty radiologists.

Is ultrasound safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves — not radiation — and is the standard imaging test during pregnancy.

Does ultrasound hurt?

No. A water-based gel is applied to the skin and a transducer glides over the area. Some pelvic or intra-cavity studies can cause mild pressure.

Do I need to prepare for an ultrasound?

Preparation depends on the body part being imaged. Abdominal exams often require fasting; pelvic exams may require a full bladder. You will be given specific instructions at scheduling.
