Fast, patient-first scheduling

Same-day and walk-in appointments are available at most locations (unless the study requires prior authorization or extensive prep). Referring physicians typically receive our specialty diagnostic reports within 24–48 hours of the exam.

About Ultrasound

Ultrasound is safe, painless, and radiation-free, which makes it a first-line test for pregnancy, gallbladder, thyroid, kidney, and vascular imaging, and a useful complement to mammography for evaluating breast findings. UMIH’s registered sonographers perform diagnostic ultrasound, breast ultrasound, and vascular Doppler studies, with images interpreted by our subspecialty radiologists.

  • Obstetric (pregnancy) imaging
  • Gallbladder, kidney, liver, and pelvic evaluation
  • Thyroid and parathyroid imaging
  • Breast ultrasound (dense-breast supplement and diagnostic)
  • Vascular Doppler for DVT, carotid, or peripheral artery disease

Preparation: Depends on the exam. Abdominal ultrasound usually requires 6 hours of fasting; pelvic ultrasound may require a full bladder. Detailed instructions are provided when you schedule.

Typical duration: Most ultrasound exams take 20–40 minutes.
